Canada retirement income gap

Compare your Canadian monthly retirement income forecasts with a spending target. Add public pensions, employer income and other sources to estimate a gap or surplus.

Your scenario

Method and limitations

Sum the three entered monthly gross income amounts and subtract them from the spending target. A positive difference is a shortfall. A negative difference is reported as a surplus. All inputs must refer to the same year and purchasing-power basis. Tax and changing benefit start dates are not modeled.

This tool uses arithmetic scenario assumptions rather than a statutory pension formula.

Build a consistent Canadian retirement budget

Enter CPP or QPP and OAS forecasts within the public pension total where applicable. Keep every amount on the same gross or net basis and in the same price year. This calculator does not determine benefit entitlement, GIS or OAS recovery tax.

Worked example

A CAD 3,000 monthly target minus CAD 1,500 public pensions, CAD 500 employer income and CAD 250 other income leaves a CAD 750 monthly gap.
